With Sunchaser Owners’ Club what do I actually own?
As a Club owner you own time on our luxury yachts worldwide. You choose a Personal Allocation Card (PAC©) that suits you, structured around the country you prefer to visit most and for the type of yacht you have chosen. Your PAC© shows in advance the extent of your ownership for five years. There is a wide variety of PACs© featuring several cruising grounds in your preferred country but also including other world-wide locations. You may choose more than one Card. You pay one lump sum, which covers your membership fee and all the costs associated with your ownership for a five-year period.

Are there any extra charges?
When you join Sunchaser Owners’ Club your single payment includes your contribution toward the yacht’s running costs, such as insurance, mooring fees while in the home port, management, maintenance, repairs, valeting etc. While you are using the yacht, you will be responsible for any consumables such as fuel, gas, water and provisions. You will also be responsible for such expenses as mooring fees away from the home port, local taxes, cruising permits, one-way fees. If the yacht is inadvertently damaged by you or someone in your party you will also need to pay a limited sum of money toward the repairs (see below, “What if I damage the yacht?”). Otherwise, your ownership entails just one simple payment for a five-year term.
back to questions
Who is the legal owner of the yachts?
Sunchaser Owners’ Club is the legal owner of the yachts and the principal owner of time allocation on each yacht. This enables us to guarantee the service we promise, whilst avoiding the troublesome issues of timeshares or syndicate ownership, such as unforeseen charges, the scope for disputes and the burden of other members defaulting.
back to questions
How often can I use the yacht?
You can own two or more weeks per year for five years. PACs© feature high, medium and low season, each including a variety of destinations. You can use the yacht anytime within the weeks shown on your Personal Allocation Card(s). PACs© are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis..
back to questions
Can I do 'swaps' with other owners?
Yes indeed. One of the greatest strengths of Sunchaser Owners’ Club is its flexibility. We will soon provide a facility on our website for members to post requests for ‘swaps’, making it easier to find alternatives to your planned holiday. If you arrange a ‘swap’ you will need to notify us in advance.
back to questions
Can I sell my ownership in the yacht?
Your ownership is transferable to a person of your choice, but it must be done through Sunchaser Owners’ Club. You as an owner determine the price at which you sell. Since the price of Club ownership is not directly linked to the value of the yacht, you might even make a profit. Sunchaser Owners’ Club will charge an administration fee.
back to questions
Can I charter out my weeks?
Owners can charter out their weeks, either privately or with assistance from the world-wide charter network of Sunchaser Yachting. We place no restrictions on what you can charge but you must notify the Club in advance.
back to questions
What qualifications do I need in order to skipper the yacht myself?
You must have the minimum of an RYA Day Skipper certificate to skipper the yacht yourself. In some locations the authorities require a radio operator’s certificate and you must comply. If you have no qualifications but are an experienced sailor you may still be allowed to sail the yacht subject to an evaluation process (local legislation permitting). If you need to build your confidence before you skipper the yacht, Sunchaser Owners’ Club will assist with one of our experienced skippers for however long you need at subsidised rates. The same rules apply to anyone you may nominate to skipper the yacht. You cannot sail single-handed. You will need at least one experienced crew member to sail along with you.
back to questions
I cannot sail. Can I still be an owner?
Certainly. You can use one of our experienced skippers and crew at special, subsidised rates.
back to questions
Can I invite guests to sail with me?
Yes, of course. You simply need to comply with the limits for different types of yacht. You may choose to do this on a complimentary basis or ask your guests for a contribution. We place no restrictions on what you can charge paying guests.
back to questions
How far can I go with the yacht?
Your itinerary is only limited by your imagination and the time you have in hand, although you will be expected to comply with local legislation and Customs requirements. Sunchaser Owners’ Club will help with suggested itineraries and advice, so that you make the most of your ownership.
back to questions
What if I damage the yacht?
In order to encourage responsible behaviour and safeguard the enjoyment of all owners, the Club will ask you to pay up to a limited sum of money for any damage that occurs accidentally by you or your party. The limit of your exposure varies depending on the type of yacht you have chosen.
back to questions
Are there restrictions for smokers?
Yes. Smoking is not permitted below decks.
back to questions
Are pets allowed?
No. Pets are not allowed on the yachts.
back to questions
Did you mention that owners get money back?
Yes! At the end of your ownership period, provided there are no monies outstanding for damages, Sunchaser Owners’ Club will pay you a sum of money equal to your limit for damages, as described above. If you wish to continue with a new term you may use this amount towards your new single payment.
