New Zealand
The Hauraki Gulf is fringed with islands, many of which are nature reserves and offer thousands of largely uninhabited sheltered anchorages within easy reach of Auckland, our main base, 'sailing capital of the world'. The Hauraki Gulf lies in the centre of a great sweep of easily navigable waters on the north east coast of North Island, extending one hundred miles up to Opua, our second base. You will love New Zealand's stunning scenery, an ever-changing variety of coastal and underwater beauty.

New Zealand's climate is complex and varies from warm subtropical in the far north to cool temperate climates in the far south.
Our bases are at Auckland and Opua. This area of North Island has a sub-tropical climate, with warm humid summers and mild winters. Summer maximum temperatures range from 22°C to 26°C, but can reach 30°C. Winter maximum temperatures range from 12°C to 17°C. SW winds prevail for much of the year. Winter is an unsettled time of year and usually has more rain. In summer and autumn, tropical storms may bring high winds and heavy rainfall from the east or northeast. Sea breezes often occur on warm summer days.
