Windward Islands
Few cruising destinations offer a comparable 'faraway' feeling with thick, sub-tropical rainforest richly covering the mountainsides all the way into the turquoise waters of idyllic bays. The sailing too is exciting with swiftly strengthening winds often brisker than in the northern Caribbean. A little extra confidence in yacht handling is richly rewarded by the authentic Caribbean feel this area can offer plus since this area is rarely in the path of hurricanes it makes a perfect all-year-round destination.

Because the islands lie close to the equator, they enjoy a steady tropical climate almost year-round. Temperatures range from 18° to 32°C. The dry season is from December to June, and the rainy season from July to November. St. Vincent's northern peaks are often surrounded by clouds, but most of the rain falls on the mountains. The Grenadines are also drier than northern St. Vincent. The islands lie within the hurricane belt but being on the southern edge of the belt (Grenada in particular), thay get fewer storms and a shorter hurricane season.
